Datel to soon release a portable 4GB HDD for Xbox 360

Datel has some gleaming plans to release a new external, portable hard drive for Xbox 360, that will operate via the USB 2.0 port interface on the machine. The product is fairly similar in concept to the 4GB HDD that Datel have just released for the PSP. It's to be priced at a costly $100 and £74.99, and to be released on February 10th.

Although it's certainly an interesting idea, those with Core 360 systems hoping to find a way around the low availability of the official Microsoft hard-drive add-ons will be disappointed. This Datel drive offers few of the benefits of the official 20GB drive - No game saves, no marketplace downloads and no backwards compatability for original Xbox games. Just media transfer. With that said, Lik-Sang have perked up an early review of the drive itself.

Be sure to give the entire review a swell read for more info.

what would be the point of shelling out $100 for a 4gb drive, when you can get the original 20gb drive for the same price?

Needed some help with a current problem im having. I have the xbox 360 core system and im unable to go online with Halo 2. I have no problems going online with any other game made for the 360 except for halo 2 for the original xbox.
any answers to this problem??? is it because I have the core system? please help...thanks

No original Xbox games on a 360 without an official hard drive I'm afraid. All original Xbox games look for a hard drive, so no Halo for you.

Although to be brutally honest, the only way I can safely assume that you didn't hear about this is due to you living under a rock or something.

all of the old xbox games used the original xbox's hard drive to store game content for faster loading times as well as game stats, updates, user preferences and so on. So naturally they need to be able to access a harddrive to be able to work properly when running on a 360

Fat Zombie - I have the 360 hard drive for my core system which I should of mentioned but that is no excuse for your idiotic comment, just need a few questions answered thats all. So next time I need any lip from you I will just pull your panties down... : )

So if I have the official 360 hard drive which is recognized by my 360 core system then why cant I still not play my older games?
any comments will be greatly appreciated...

One thing of note, when I first put in an original xbox game into my 360, it said I needed an update off of the Live service. I assume you've done that since you said you go online. try resetting your network settings back to default on your 360. I got on Halo 2 live through my 360 through those settings. Also, not every original xbox game will work with the 360. Halo and Halo 2 do, but don't hold your breath for many others

Dude, Core system with a hardrive.... isnt that considered a premium. All thats keeping the Core title would be the box. lol

by ANONYMOUS @ 22 February 23:11
the premium system also comes with Hi def cables, and a wireless controller. You'd also have to buy those with the harddrive to make a core system the same as a premium system. But basically you're right, the harddrive is the big difference.

I don't know why your having those problems SS, i have a cor unit which I bought HD for and Halo 2 works great for me, hope the problem works itself out.
Am I the only one who has pretty much stuffed my HD full of Dowloadable content already. 20 gigs = not enough space. Give me 60 at least, then we will be talking.
